BUILDING STONE

Stalbridge building stone comes cut and hand dressed to 6 inches on bed (or can be altered to suit your needs), in heights varying from 2 to 7" (normally around 5"), and in length varying from 5 to 15". At 6" on bed there are approximately 3.75 sq ms of faced stone to the tonne.

The stone is a hard-wearing and weather-resistant.

Use it for extending existing stone built houses; building new houses or building follies and walls in the garden.

PAVING

Stalbridge paving's natural soft colours and lines can enhance any surroundings whilst at the same time fulfilling useful functions: making paths; as coping stones on walls; for stepping stones; low maintenance paved areas and filling in areas in place of vegetation or blank earth.

Paving is unsawn and so comes in random sizes, most of which range from 1 to 4 sq ft in surface area. Thickness ranges from 1½ to 2 ½".  The colour is a rich grey fawn colour.

ROCKERY

The rockery stone is a rich fawn grey colour.

Stones range from the size of a small football to half tonne boulders the size of a single bed, so it's essential to decide on how big your rockery is to be to keep things in proportion! Come and pick out your stone directly from our quarry.

A versatile element in any landscaping project, rockeries can be used for water features, to break up large areas, as natural barriers (for instance separating driveways from lawn areas) and holding banks of earth in place - not to mention as rockeries themselves!

ROOFING
STONE

Traditionally the thinner (less than an 1½"  in width) high quality stone was used for roofing. Today there is still some demand for roofing stone, mainly to renovate conservation value buildings which either have, or used to have, stone roofs.

The stone is hand dressed. Its rich fawn grey colour and the bold crafted look of the roofing stone gives an unbeatable finish to a house, barn or folly.

Drystone Walling.

DRYSTONE WALLING

The drystone walling stone comes in flat, random sizes - most of the stone has a diameter of less than 12" and a height around 3" - and is neither cut nor dressed. This makes it ideal for the building of either free-standing or retaining walls, or follies, in places where natural harmony is important, in gardens, or environmentally sensitive surroundings.
